David Mumma is a Midwestern-based, self-taught artist currently living in Burlington, Iowa.

My approach to everything I create begins with clearing my mind. I am very intentional about pushing away expectations from myself and others. My goal with each piece is to depict an authentic expression of where I'm at in that moment.

Stylistically, I'm constantly exploring new techniques and aesthetics mainly focusing on remaining raw and unpolished. I am most fascinated by contemporary art and it's ability to communicate shared experience and emotion within our collective consciousness. I am less interested in painting someone or something and more interested in depicting a moment or a sensation.

I believe creativity lives within all of us and that the creative act itself provides the deepest sense of freedom, control, and identity that exists. My hope is that through my art others can be inspired and motivated to also create; turning their experience into something physical.
